When planning our trip to the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, we were overwhelmed with the number of campgrounds available. It makes sense given the large number of visitors to each of these parks, but trying to find a site with the views, amenities, and availability was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Ultimately, due to the size of both parks and lack of vacancy we ended up splitting the trip across two campgrounds. For the first half, we explored Grand Teton National Park and set up camp in Headwaters at Flagg Ranch.
Location
Headwaters at Flagg Ranch is situated between the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Because of its proximity, we were able to enjoy early morning sunrises and evening sunsets within in the parks, without the dread of a long drive. Located five minutes from the south entrance to Yellowstone, you can’t get much closer while still being able to easily access the Grand Teton area.
Scenery
Surrounding our campsite were towering Lodgepole pines. The provided some privacy between the sites and allowed us to feel closer to nature. We loved the peaceful backdrop.

All RV sites in Headwaters at Flagg Ranch are pull through. This made it super easy when arriving and checking out.
The ability to reserve in advance
As mentioned above, the number of tourists in the Grand Teton and Yellowstone areas can be staggering. There are a handful of RV campgrounds located within the parks, but in the Grand Teton area only two allow advance reservations. While we wanted to stay at a National Park campground, we were concerned about not being able to find an available spot if we waited to arrive. Headwaters at Flagg Ranch allows online advance reservations. This gave us peace of mind as we started our journey.
Amenities
Headwaters at Flagg Ranch offers so many amenities! With their gas station, grocery, propane on site, restaurant, gift shop, and laundry facilities there’s no need to worry if you’ve forgotten essential items. Our site included full hookups and provided both 30 and 50 amp service.
